Youth Program

The Youth Program

In 2002, the WING Family Program developed a joint services youth program. In the years since its conception the WI NG Youth Program has grown by leaps and bounds.  The program now hosts quarterly events for military youth from all branches of service and all around the state.  These events along with the annual Youth Symposium are designed to provide youth with opportunities to form bonds with other military youth that understand the life they live.  This in turn builds support networks for military youth that are essential in times of deployment as well as reintegration.  It is the belief of the Child and Youth Program that military youth need someone to talk to that truly understands what they are going through.

Another strong belief held by the WI NG Child and Youth Program is that youth need outlets and training that enables them to give back to their community, build resilience and a sense of pride in themselves as well as their country.  Many activities are based on or involve community service projects and leadership skills.
The WI NG Child and Youth Program also acts as a resource and referral agency for FRG Leaders, parents, school personnel and community members.  This support is provided through materials dealing with military youth and how to support them, as well as speaking engagements that are designed to educate the public on the special needs of military youth.
